Bedworth Utd 1-0 NTFC Match Report

Nuneaton Town headed to The Oval for the first time of many over the coming seasons, to play their landlords Bedworth United. Kick off was the earlier time of 1pm due to the England v Switzerland game at 5pm. The Bedworth squad contained old Boro faces Alex Dean, Joe Magunda and Chris Cox.

The game started evenly with both sides creating chances. Bedworth scored on 8 minutes however when a miskick in defence was headed down to Leo Stone who slotted past the trial keeper to make it 1-0.

Boro nearly fought back a few minutes later when Chandler Pegg latched onto a through ball but his shot was saved by the Bedworth keeper.

The Greenbacks nearly made it 2 right on half time but a combination of the trialist goalkeeper and a header off the line by Daly, and then a header wide from the resulting corner meant Boro survived.

Half time: Bedworth 1-0 Boro

Both sides started to ring the changes at half time. And it made for a bitty half with few chances, with neither side really testing the keepers much. Justin Marsden made a first appearance in the blue and white stripes since January 2012 when he came on for the last quarter of the game. Several of the youngsters also came on late in the game, and encouragingly there was little drop in quality.

All in all another solid performance against a side who on paper are 2 levels above.
