Match Report | Melton Town 0-0 Nuneaton Town
Nuneaton Town headed to the home of pork pies and Stilton cheese for their 3rd pre-season friendly against Melton Town of the United Counties League (step 5).
Continuing with a mix of trialists and signed players, Melton started off strongly and won a corner in the first few seconds. From the resulting corner an attacking header hit the crossbar and for the next few minutes Melton continued to pressure the Nuneaton goal.
On 11 minutes the first chance came at the other end, Romario Martin getting a shot away from the edge of the box but the deflection from the defender made it an easy hold from the Melton keeper.
Both sides cancelled each other out for the remainder of the half. Neither side really creating a clear cut chance other than some good crosses from both sides that noone got on the end of.
Half time: Melton Town 0-0 Nuneaton Town
As with the previous friendlies the second half was about getting minutes under players belts. Second half was more or less a carbon copy of the first with two evenly matched sides cancelling each other out and very few chances of note. Again the younger lads coming on late in the game coped just as well with the opposition as the more senior players.
Boro will be pleased with a first clean sheet against a team from the step above ahead of Saturdays midday kick off at Coalville.
