It's becoming closer to a when not if with regards to Nuneaton Town's Midland League Division 1 title charge, and the next opportunity to get closer to that elusive league title comes on Saturday at home to Stapenhill.

Just a maximum of 9 points separate Nuneaton from a long awaited league title, and they'll know that a win on Saturday means the title could be won at Kirby Muxloe the following week should results go in their favour.

Stapenhill will have a task to stop a relentless Nuneaton Town that have won every game they've played in 2025 so far, just part of an incredible 15 game winning streak which has seen them surge clear from the chasing pack at the top of the league, and within sight of being a record season. The winning streak itself is already believed to be a record for Nuneaton teams.

Just one more win will see Nuneaton Town break a record points tally of 95 across all historical Nuneaton teams, set in 1996 by Nuneaton Borough, and just 18 goals are needed from their final 5 games to break a goalscoring record of 129 that has stood since 1954.

In the last meeting between the two teams, a competitive match at Maple Grove ended 3-1 to Town, with 2 goals from Louis Baker sandwiching a Callum Carsley effort, and an Oliver Roome goal for the home team. Roome later moved to play off chasers Coton Green at the turn of the year.

Stapenhill sit in 15th with 11 wins, 8 draws and 17 defeats, totalling 41 points, and pushed Heather St John's to a narrow 2-1 win last time out before edging past an improving Paget Rangers 1-0 on Tuesday night. Nuneaton Town reached that 15th straight win beating Coton Green 4-2 with goals from Declan Somel, Callum Carsley (2), and Justin Marsden. With Roome now gone, Jack Henchcliffe with 9 goals is the man to watch out for.

Will the Town be able to get 3 more points to stand on the brink of glory? Come and back the lads once again and help them get over the line.
