On Saturday, Nuneaton Town FC head to Burton upon Trent to play Stapenhill FC in the first fixture against each other in the Midland Football League Division One.

Fourteen places separate the two sides with Town sitting top of the league on 51 points and Stapenhill in 15th place on 26 points. Over the past six games, Town are 5th in the form guide after picking up four wins, one draw and suffering one defeat. Whilst The Swans are 16th in the six game form guide after losing three, drawing two and winning once away at Birstall United. Town have conceded the second fewest amount of goals in the league this season, but will have to be at their best to prevent Stapenhill striker Oliver Roome from scoring as he is joint top goal scorer in the division with 21 goals.

Whilst this is the first time that the two sides have met, fans of Nuneaton Borough may remember a pre-season friendly at Stapenhill before the 93/94 season. Boro winning the tie 4-2 thanks to goals for Paul Culpin (2), Dave Whetton and Mick Shearer.

The Swans were formed back in 1947 and mainly competed in the Leicestershire Senior League until the early 1990's where they joined the Midland Combination Premier Division. The club then moved between the Leicestershire Senior League and Midland Football Alliance until the season 2007-08 season when disaster struck. The club experienced a fire at the ground and were forced to withdraw from the league. Thankfully, the club was able to reform in 2009 and rejoin the Leicestershire Senior League and progress into the MFL Division One.
