MATCH PREVIEW: Bedworth United pre-season friendly, Saturday 1pm

Matt Jones provides a match preview for our upcoming pre-season friendly with Bedworth United FC:

Date: Saturday 6th July 2024

Kick off: 1pm (13:00)

Opponent: Bedworth United

Venue: The Oval, Coventry Road, Bedworth, CV12 8NN

Admission Prices: Adult £6, Concession (12-17 year olds and over 65’s) £5, U12s Free

The Oval will become familiar to Boro fans over the next 2 years at least, as the new Nuneaton Town FC will make it their home in the Midland League after the much publicised ground issues that contributed to Nuneaton Borough's demise.

Boro and the Greenbacks meet for the first time since 2011’s friendly, this time on a friendlier keel than the memorable derbies of 2008-9 played in front of nearly 4000 fans over both games.

Like Quorn, Bedworth were in the Northern Premier League Division 1 Midlands last season, improving over the course of the season to finish 9th, after only finding their first home win in November.

This game sees Darren Acton and Russell Dodd take charge of the newly assembled team for the first time, having missed the game at Quorn.

Directions from Nuneaton town centre: Take the A444 south towards Coventry, at the Griff roundabout take the exit towards Bedworth (Coventry Road), at the roundabout with the car wash turn left onto Rye Piece Ringway, go straight on at the roundabout on to Sargeant Simon Valentine Way, and at the next roundabout turn left onto Coventry Road. The ground will be on the left after a few yards down a driveway.

Journey time: (9 mins, 4 miles)

Public transport: Bus 148 from Nuneaton stops at Bedworth Leisure Centre, which is a short walk from the ground. Buses are every 15 minutes. Bus 20 also stops nearby.

Trains leave from Nuneaton station at 37 minutes past each hour and take 7 minutes to get to Bedworth, and return at 9 minutes past each hour.
