Treasurer’s Report - February 2025
Nuneaton Town came into February with a perfect record for 2025 on the pitch and with five wins, scoring 23 goals and conceding 7, we certainly kept that record going! This also extended the overall league goals tally to 104, the first time any Nuneaton Borough/Nuneaton Town side had a achieved this feat since the 1992-93 season.
Across the two home games in February, we saw an 13.5% increase in attendance, averaging 453 including a sun-soaked 489 against Sutton United. On our travels, 150 or so braved a freezing day at the Castle Vale Stadium, and over 200 travelled to both Coton Green and Cradley Town, the later seeing our second coach trip of the season. As part of the latter, the “the Canal siders” supporter’s collective donated towards the cost of the trip, which was utilised to subsidise the cost of travel for all who travelled. I am sure you will join me in extending our thanks for this fantastic gesture.
Total turnover for the month, was £8,306 (last month £11,607) due to having only two home games. Merchandise sales came in just short of £800, which is lower than previous months but still fantastic, and will be down to the prospect of warmer weather – so less bobble hats and scarves needed! The Nuneaton Town Supporters’ Co-op were able to contribute £1,200 from the 200 club proceeds. The increased amount is because the draw now has over two hundred participants, by far the highest ever number playing!
The other significant event during February was the appointment of Lee Davies as Commercial Manager. Lee joins us after a hugely successful time at Coventry United and no doubt he will be able to use his experience to drive our sponsorship and advertising revenue forward. If you wish to discuss opportunities with Lee, please reach out to him by emailing commercial@nuneatontownfc.co.uk.
In terms of expenditure, we incurred £9,704 in direct costs during January, which covered:
Four playing weeks’ players and coaches’ remuneration, plus the cost of the re-arranged Coton Green fixture
Matchday ground hire
Training facility hire.
Physio fees and equipment costs
Matchday security and safety costs
Matchday officials’ fees and expenses
Post-match catering costs (required by the league)
Merchandise cost of sales
Programme printing and matchday fundraising ticket costs.
We also incurred administrative expenses of £128, which included:
Website hosting costs
Subscription to the club’s finance system (Xero)
Payroll processing costs
Printing and stationery costs
Transaction fees charged by payment platforms (SumUp & Stripe)
Due to the reduced turnover from only playing two home games, we had an operating loss (deficit) of £1,527 for February, meaning the operating profit (surplus) stands at £43,215. We have also committed to spending an additional £600 on “Back to Nuneaton” project on site environmental studies. Including the £4,000 committed last month, this means out net profit after exceptional items stands at £38,615.
What to expect in MARCH
March could well be a momentous month for Nuneaton Town FC. With five games, two away and three at home, all are significant to the title race and therefore it is possible that we could see some bumper attendances. We would therefore expect to break even at a minimum, but there is scope to bring some extra funds into the club (and, of course, into the “Back to Nuneaton”) fund.
Back to Nuneaton update
During February, we were able to add another £3,002 to the fund, making a total of £34,842 raised so far.
This includes the £1,200 donated from the Nuneaton Town Supporters Co-operative from the proceeds of the latest 200 Club draw.
As mentioned last month, we will be giving an update on the progress of the feasibility studies at the fan’s forum at the Stockingford Pavilion (the Piv) on the 12th March. I will also be giving an update on the club’s current financial position and what we expect the finances for next season to look like.
There will also be updates from our joint managers, Darren Acton, and Russell Dodd, plus a Q&A session, so it is certainly not to be missed.
How can I help?
There are several ways that fans and local businesses can help support the club:
Support the club by attending games and encouraging others to do so!
While at games, please consider purchasing a 50/50 draw or Golden Goal ticket.
Join the NTSC 200 club. This is a great way of supporting the club financially, whilst give you the chance to win monthly cash prizes. This now contributes to the “Back to Nuneaton” fund. You can take part in the 200 Club online by clicking this link: Join the 200 Club
Join the Nuneaton Town Supporters Co-operative. Not only will you be helping the Co-op fulfil its duty as part owner of the club, but you will also be able to hold the Co-op board members and club officials appointed by the Co-op to account (including me). Look out for further information about the new season membership drive and further information on how you can get involved in both the Co-op and the club.
