Nuneaton Town make the short journey down the A5 to Lutterworth Athletic on Saturday afternoon.

'The Atho' were formed in 1983 as a youth team as Lutterworth Juniors and Youth. Rather than lose their youth players to other clubs, they created a senior team in 1993, and spent until 2012 in the Leicestershire Senior League, being promoted and relegated between it's various divisions during that time. They were promoted to the East Midlands Counties League in 2012, and were transferred to the United Counties League in 2013. A year in the Spartan South Midlands came in 2021, before another switch to the United Counties. And they joined the Midland League with several other teams for the 2024-25 season.

Lutterworth Athletic play in green and white hoops, and are managed by Ben Steane, who played for several local clubs, including Bedworth United, Rugby Town, Brackley Town, and Halesowen Town. They sit in 17th in the league with 3 wins, 3 draws and 10 defeats from their 16 games. Nuneaton Town are 4th with 10 wins, 5 draws and 1 defeat from their 16 games, and will be looking to close the gap with none of the top 3 in league action.

Directions from Nuneaton town centre:

Take the A47 to the A5 via the Long Shoot. Follow the A5 towards Rugby/London, continuing past the junction with the M69. Upon reaching Magna Park and Lutterworth, turn left onto the A4303 towards the M1. At the Frank Whittle (aeroplane) roundabout turn left onto the A426, following all the way through Lutterworth. About a mile north of the town, turn left onto Hall Lane, and the entrance to the ground is immediately on the left. Car parking is limited.

(15 miles, approx 25 mins)

Public transport:

This is a bit of an awkward journey but not impossible. Take the train from Nuneaton to Leicester (at 24 or 51 minutes past each hour). Then the 84 or X84 bus to Bitteswell (takes around an hour). Then walk back up Ashby Lane and then Hall Lane on the right up to the ground.
