Nuneaton Town play their first match on Saturday since knowing they are to be confirmed as Midland Football League Division 1 Champions and be promoted at the end of the season no matter what happens in the final three matches.

Nuneaton beat Kirby Muxloe 3-1 last Saturday with goals from Loyiso Recci, James Harrison and a penalty from Louis Baker, whilst Heather St John's fell to a 2-0 defeat to Ingles, which left them 16 points behind with just 15 to play for.

The first match as the new champions comes against Leicester St Andrew's at the Oval. 'LSA' are a team that are much improved since their 4-0 home defeat to Nuneaton last August which left them 14th in the table, and are now almost assured of a play off place having battled their way to the top 3. They have in fact only lost a league game to Cradley Town (twice) since September, and are currently on an 11 game unbeaten run, the most recent result of which was a 5-0 home win over Paget Rangers.

Nuneaton themselves have won 16 straight league games and are unbeaten in 20 - 17 wins in a row including the Floodlit Cup Semi Final, and will be aiming to be one of the first sides in the country to hit a hundred points this season.

All in all, it is set for a very competitive game between the two sides. Players from the away side to watch out for include Greg Mills, formerly of Nuneaton Town, who has 22 goals to his name this season, and Josh Crossley with 28 goals. Other former Nuneaton players include Liam Canavan, Jamie Hood, and Jorrin John.

Come and see the new league champions and see if we can add another to the long winning streak this Saturday! And please make the Juniors welcome as they join in with the party for Junior Takeover Day.
