Nuneaton Town's first trip to Leicester of many this season on Saturday sees them take on Leicester St Andrew's.

Leicester St Andrew's origins come from the Rifle Butt's pub which was demolished to make way for a new housing estate in 1973. The pub had played friendly matches since 1965 but decided to enter a league as St Andrew's from 1973 onwards. After playing in the Leicester City league they were accepted into the Leicestershire Senior League in 1985 after their clubhouse was built. In 2008 they were founder members of the East Midlands Counties League. They reached the FA Vase semi finals in 2013-14 just missing out over 2 legs to West Auckland Town.

They reached step 5 in 2016 but were relegated to the United Counties Division 1 a couple of years ago, and are one of a number of Leicestershire teams who have made the sideways move to the Midland League Division 1 this season.

Leicester St Andrew's have had a mixed start to the season, with 2 wins, 2 draws and 2 losses from their opening 6 games, while Nuneaton Town will be looking to get back on track following their loss to Heather St John's on Tuesday which ended their unbeaten record.

Directions from Nuneaton:

Take the A47 to the A5. Then the A5 south east towards the M69. Take the M69 north to its end at Leicester and go straight on at the roundabout with the M1. Take the slip road to ring road south which curves round to join it. Pass Fosse Park on your left then take the next left at the lights, after around half a mile, to the A426 Lutterworth Road. Immediately after passing Aylestone Hall turn left onto Hall Lane, right onto Disraeli Street then left onto Canal Street. The ground is at the end of the road over the bridge.

Public transport:

The ground is slightly nearer to South Wigston train station than Leicester train station, both are reachable direct from Nuneaton. However buses only run on the route from South Wigston to the ground from Sturdee Road off Saffron Road (by Aylestone Park FC) to Lutterworth Road. Some walking will be required at both sides of the bus journey. From Leicester City Centre the 88 Saffron bus goes to Saffron Lane, a few minutes walk from the ground.

Recommended train is the 12:45 (or any ending in 45) to Stansted Airport which stops at both South Wigston and Leicester.

Return train leaves Leicester at 50 minutes past the hour and South Wigston at 56 minutes past the hour.
