Nuneaton Town make the short trip to the village of Heather just outside Ibstock for a crucial match on Saturday afternoon.
Nuneaton fans will remember that Heather St John's are the only side to beat them in a competitive fixture so far, winning 2-0 at The Oval back in August. And with the return fixture coming still early in the season, Nuneaton will be looking to avenge this result.
Despite having not faced Heather St John's before the match at The Oval, Nuneaton Town have visited St John's Park before, as previous tenants Hinckley AFC hosted Nuneaton Town on 15th July 2017, in a preseason friendly, winning 4-2 in an entertaining game.
Heather St John's go into the match top of the table, with 12 wins and 3 losses from their first 15 matches. While Nuneaton go into the match top of the form table having won their last 5 games without conceding. Their total record is 10 wins, 3 draws and 1 defeat from 14 games, which leaves them in 5th, just 3 points behind Heather with a game in hand. Should either side win this match they would be above the other on Saturday night, which shows the tightness at the top of the table at the moment. Therefore the match is crucial for both sides.
Directions from Nuneaton town centre:
Drivers can take the main roads route which goes round the Hinckley bypass (A47) and then the A447 towards Ibstock and Coalville. Upon reaching Ibstock take the first left onto Station Road, and follow the road straight to Heather, turning right at the village centre, and across the roundabout onto Ravenstone Road, and the entrance to the ground is on the left after a few yards.
Alternatively, you can take the A444 towards Burton, then after passing Sibson, take a right onto Gibbet Lane towards Congerstone. Take a left onto Main Street at the Horse and Jockey pub, and follow the road through Shackerstone. At the crossroads with Odstone Lane, take a right then immediately left. Follow this road all the way to Heather, and after the village centre, follow as above.
Public transport:
Due to its rural location, Heather is very difficult to get to by public transport, and takes around 3 hours. If you choose to go this way, take a train to Leicester, then another to Loughborough, a number 9 to Loughborough town centre, the number 16 to Coalville, then number 15 to Ibstock. Then a taxi from there.
