Nuneaton Town are back in league action this Saturday as they host Cradley Town.

'The Hammers' were formed in 1970 as a merger of Albion Rovers and Haden Rangers, joining the Midland Combination Division 2 as Albion Haden United. They renamed as Cradley Town in 1975, and transferred to the West Midlands Regional League in 1983 after a couple of promotions.

They were promoted to the Midland Alliance in 1999 after finishing runners up in the Premier Divsion. They were relegated back in 2010 having finished bottom of the table with no league wins all season. In 2020 when the West Midlands Regional League was no longer a step 6 league, Cradley Town were transferred to the Midland League Division 1 and have been there ever since.

Cradley Town (pronounced 'Cradeley') play in red, and play at Albion Rovers old ground Beeches View, an old school ground that Nuneaton fans will enjoy a visit to later in the season. Cradley Town and Nuneaton Borough/Town have never met competitively before.

Cradley lie in 7th in the table with 11 wins and 6 defeats (no draws) from their 17 games, and in a good run of form having won all 4 matches since losing to Nuneaton Griff on 5th October, although their 3 league wins in this time were all against 3 of the bottom 4. While Nuneaton sit in second with 11 wins, 5 draws and 1 defeat, and are unbeaten in 14 matches now since the solitary defeat at home to Heather St John's.

With Coton Green not in league action until Wednesday a win would send Nuneaton top of the table, so this is a crucial fixture.
