Nuneaton Town make the short trip down the A444 for a local derby with Coventry Copsewood on Saturday.

Copsewood were formed in 1922 as Peel Connor, and after joining with Magnito Ltd in 1926 changed to Magnet FC. They became GEC (Cov) FC in 1934, GPT (Coventry) in the 70s, Marconi (Coventry) FC in 1999, and finally Coventry Copsewood in 2006.

Allard Way is often used for cricket in the summer, so this is why Copsewood have played all their games away so far. Saturday is their first league game of the season. After 10 points in their first 4 games Copsewood were top of the table briefly, but only one win since means they sit 11th going into Saturdays game. Nuneaton inadvertently have ended up with a welcome week's rest after their match at Bilston on Wednesday was postponed, but sit 6th after the midweek games, 4 points from the top with a game in hand.

Directions from Nuneaton town centre:

Take the A444 south all the way into Coventry and at the Gosford Green roundabout (where the A444 would turn right towards the city centre) turn left towards Binley/Rugby on Binley Road. Go past the shops to the traffic lighted crossroads and turn right onto Allard Way, the ground is on the left down a driveway.

(12 miles, approx 21 mins)

Public transport:

It's recommended to use the 148 bus from Nuneaton to Coventry Transport Museum, then the 13 bus to Allard Way, then it's a short walk to the ground. Buses run every 10-15 mins and the full journey takes around 1 hour 20 mins.
